Alright so i have been looking at this 3D printing for a while now and finally i have decided to go ahead and build my self a 3d printer.
Why
Well, since i am in to RC models and it seems like a great way to make some plastic parts for my models.
I am sure that i will find it usable to lots of other things.
Model selection
After scouting around in the jungle of 3D printers (mainly
repraps) i have decided for the
Mendel90 by
Nophead. The version i have decided to build is the "mendel90 sturdy" it seems to be just that.. The sturdy model frame is made of 12mm MDF, witch is a great material to work with.
Nophead also made the plans for the Mendel90 with all open software and made "make files" for the parts and templates. So if you want to make some modifications, you can do that, run the make script and it will spit out new templates,
bom, and 3d models for the plastic parts. Gr8!
Where do i go next
I have placed my self in nophead's queue for the printed parts. You can buy them directly from ebay but the ones i found where incomplete. So it seems like the best thing is order straight from the source..
I will try to scout for parts so i can start the build as soon as the plastic parts arrive.
